Soft, Synthetic
Melbourne Design Week / Chin Chin GoGo Art Series, Curated by Caitlin Mullaly
Solo Exhibition, May 2026
Soft Synthetic is a solo exhibition by Australian designer and artist Lisa Meinesz, presented as part of Chin Chin’s long-running GoGo Art Series.
Spanning projection, installation, and material fabrication across Chin Chin and GoGo Bar in Melbourne/Naarm, the exhibition imagines speculative ecosystems and the systems designed to sustain them. Through digitally modelled organisms and closed-loop support structures, Soft Synthetic explores how emerging bio-technologies may reshape care, control, autonomy, and biological adaptation in technologically mediated futures.
A limited-edition cocktail created in collaboration with Chin Chin’s beverage team accompanies the exhibition, extending its material and conceptual themes into a sensory experience.
The exhibition also features an opening activation by MaggZ, presenting a live embodied response to the work through movement and performance.
